Michaela (Sandra Huller) is excited to head off to college. It will be a welcome opportunity to escape her strict parents, especially since it's been a year since she's suffered an attack from her crippling epilepsy. Her mother (Imogen Kogge) thinks it's a bad idea, but her father encourages this as a step in the right direction. When in a desperate fit of anger and frustration she flushes her medication down the sink, things start to go badly wrong and Michaela claims she hears voices that tell her not to touch the rosary and the cross. Is it epilepsy or could it be something supernatural?
Based on events that really happened in small town southern Germany in the 70s, where the movie is set.
