Set and shot in Rhodesia during the bush war which lasted there from 1964 until three years after production wrapped, this German/British/South African co-production is something of a continental western with horror overtones. Mobs of rebels, under the command of an albino native (Horst Frank), have been conducting murderous raids across the countryside. Local military official Bill (Christopher Lee) does not have the manpower to end the carnage and is under orders not to further enflame the situation with heavy-handed action against the inhabitants. Bill’s friend and former colleague Terick Handel (James Faulkner) is engaged to Sally (Sybil Danning, looped by another actress), the lovely young daughter of crusty old war veteran Johannes (Trevor Howard). When the albino rapes and scalps Sally in his latest incursion, Handel determines to track the terrorist and his followers, accompanied only by his loyal native companion, Katchemu (Sam Williams). Bill, meanwhile, is torn by loyalty to his friend and his duty, the problem compounded when additional forces superseding his command are sent in.
