And Starring Pancho Villa as Himself (2003) DVD9
Harry Aitken (Jim Broadbent) is in business making movies with Mutual co-owner D.W. Griffith (Colm Feore), and dispatches his nephew Frank Thayer (Eion Bailey) to Mexico to film revolutionary leader Pancho Villa (Antonio Banderas). Villa thinks pictures of him will help promote money for his armies. Frank and his cameramen risk their life in the midst of real battles, filming alongside fighters like mercenary Sam Drebben (Alan Arkin), a freebooting machinegunner from the Bronx. but the docu film footage doesn't impress jaded NYC viewers. Undaunted, Frank returns to the Mexican border to shoot a fictional story of Villa with director Christy Cabanne (Michael McKean) and actor Raoul Walsh (Kyle Chandler) - a phony tale that audiences will accept!
