Maid Marian and Her Merry Men
The true story of Sherwood Forest is finally revealed: Robin was a cowardly tailor from Kensington, and Marian was the brains behind the Merry Men. With her ruthless band of freedom fighters, Marian seeks to save the villagers of Worksop from the tyrany of King John and his cunning henchman, the Sheriff of Nottingham...

Maid Marian and Her Merry Men was consistently number 1 in the childrens TV ratings throughout its four series. It was popular with the critics too, winning a BAFTA, an RTS Award and the International Prix Jeunesse. This perfectly conceived historical farce is witty, warm and stylish. An excellent cast and faultless writing has drawn comparisons to Blackadder, Red Dwarf, and The Young Ones.

Gloriously stupid, wilfully over the top and great fun from start to finish, this is one of the gems of 1980s' children's TV. It's also got a great set of extras including the karaoke theme tune, a commentary by Robinson, a quiz, a comic written by Robinson and an except from the German dubbed version of the show. So do yourself a favour and revisit Sherwood Forest with this great series. Just be warned, you'll be humming that theme tune for ages.
