Milim 1996
Based on Gitai's 1992 play "Metamorphosis of a Melody" and the 1993 Venice Biennale performance "The War of the Sons of Light Against the Sons of Darkness", the film uses excerpts from these performances and occasionally also from other Gitai films and superimposes them with almost uninterrupted horizontal tracking shots of contemporary Israel, mirroring the movement of time and the history of the Jewish people from the first century to the 20th century.

In this film, the itinerary of Flavius Josephus at the time of the destruction of the Temple of Jerusalem in AD 70 crosses that of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, assassinated in 1995, and the memory of the Holocaust through images of Poland. Milim reflects Amos Gitai's views on the history of the Jewish people and Israeli society in the wake of Rabin's assassination.
