Construction worker Neil Curry is living happily with his wife Barbara in the suburbs until one day during the holiday season when their house is vandalized by someone who apparently has been stalking them. The stalker is Emily, Neil's mentally disturbed ex-wife who has just been released from prison where she was serving time for murder. The break in is Emily's first attempt to get revenge for past grievances with Neil, who she also wants to win back.

This disquieting domestic thriller from writer and director Alan Rudolph was produced by his long-time mentor Robert Altman.
