This DVD contains the footage from the 1910-1912 South Pole expedition led by the Norwegian polar explorer Roald Amundsen (1872-1928). Through this expedition, Amundsen won the honour of conquering the South Pole - after a race involving several other polar explorers. The UNESCO international register Memory of the World is a compendium of documentary heritage of particular great value to humanity as a whole. The register includes Roald Amundsen's film from the South Pole expedition, as one of very few films among the heritage documents.
The material has been restored, and his here presented in four versions, including the English lecture version. Newly arranged and newly composed music accompanies the films, specially made for this publication.
