Set on the wild and picturesque Cornwell coastline, the Poldark family struggles to keep its Cornish tin mine alive while Captain Ross Poldark (John Bowe) is away in London serving in Parliament while England is at war with France. Romance is also in the Cornwell air as impetuous daughter Clowance (Kelly Reilly) falls in love with a mysterious stranger rescued from a nearby shipwreck. Also starring Mel Martin and loan Gruffudd.

Jane Seymour and Beau Bridges star in this romantic tale set against the backdrop of a looming war in Egypt and the Sudan during the waning years of the British Empire.
