The Making of the President 1960 (1963) DVD9
on April 21st, 2016 at 06:10
From the 1960 primary elections to the watershed national elections, this film, like the celebrated book it is based on, catalogs for the first time the entire dramatic process of how a candidate for the presidency wages his campaign. More than just an account of the events of this historic campaign, it is also an analysis of the leadership capacities of the individual candidates as time and circumstance challenges them. This film goes beyond politics in order to bring about an awareness of what it would be like to be in the shoes of each of the candidates in a manner both respectful and provocative. It's no surprise this film won three Emmys: Program of the Year, Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Documentary Programs {David L. Wolper (producer) , Mel Stuart (producer), Theodore H. White (writer)}, and Outstanding Achievement in Composing Original Music for Television {Elmer Bernstein}.
