Invisible monsters can scare any child. But it is even more frightening if mummy is the one who sees them. This is exactly what this Swedish film portrays in a both frightening and touching way. 8-year-old Ti lives alone with her mother, who suffers from schizophrenia and sees demons everywhere. They can walk through walls and closed doors. At least this is what Ti's mother claims. Ti never takes a bath, as her mother lives in her own world, unable to take care of her daughter. The film is a story about Ti and how she eventually wins over the invisible demons that controlled her mother's life, and thus her own.
'The Girl, the Mother and the Demons' is a powerful, poignant and disturbing tale of being the child of a psychotic parent. A different and harsh portrayal of a mother's battle against inner demons, and a story about the strong bond between a mother and her daughter.
