Asya and the Hen with the Golden Eggs is a satirical sequel to Konchalovsky's 1966 Soviet film, The Story of Asya Klyachina, taking the characters of the original and placing them in a post-Soviet context.

Asya lives in a small village with only her hen Ryaba as her sole companion. Her husband is an alcoholic who lives with a gypsy. Her son works on the black market for the mob. She makes her living from selling eggs and distilling liquor. One day, Asya finds a golden egg. She thinks a miracle has occurred...
