Cheryomushki 1962
"Cheryomushki" is a screen adaptation of the Musical (operetta) written by one of the greatest Composers of the 20th Century, Dmitriy Shostakovich. The music, indeed is splendid, the voices are marvelous and some of the duets are simply great (Lida and Boris singing and dancing in the costumes of the different epochs).

A gentle satire on the lives and aspirations of young Soviets, the story follows the on-off romances of three young couples, as they battle bureaucracy, petty corruption and bizarre complications to acquire apartments in the sought-after "Cherry Town" – a new showcase estate in suburban Moscow.
