After being involved in an auto accident, American Christopher Smith (Webber) finds himself in a London hospital suffering from amnesia. Dr. Newlands, the attending physician, tells him that an anonymous benefactor is paying his hospital bills and also has provided an apartment for him. Released, Smith moves into the flat and hires Hemmings, a private detective, to learn the identity of a woman in a torn photograph in his pocket. He discovers the model was killed six months earlier, stabbed to death in her shower. But when he's repeatedly awakened by a woman's screams and later finds her dead body in his bathroom, the question frighteningly arises: is Chris a killer gone insane or a pawn in a well-planned murder?
