Two lonely people are changed forever in October, a dolorous debut from the Peruvian brothers Daniel and Diego Vega and an oblique reminder that one person's fantasy can be another's nightmare — at least at first glance.
Set in a down-at-heel neighborhood in Lima during the weeklong religious festival known as the Lord of the Miracles, this deadpan tale swirls around Clemente (Bruno Odar), a morose, middle-aged moneylender. Day by day, he sits in his small apartment and listens to the sad stories of his neighbors and strangers who desperately need money to keep going. He has no friends or family and spends his spare time having sex with prostitutes.
His life gets turned upside down when he discovers a baby that had been left in his apartment by an intruder. One of his clients, Sofia (Gabriela Velasquez) comes to the rescue and soon Clemente finds himself surrounded by an unexpected new family...
