The Gold Robbers 1969 The Complete Series
Inspired by the murky events surrounding the so-called Great Train Robbery of 1963 and the ensuing police investigation into that crime, “The Gold Robbers” tells the story of a highly organised £5.5 million gold heist and its consequences from the point of view of everybody involved or affected, from the lowliest small-time con artist all the way up to the highest echelons of big business and politics, as well as the men charged with investigating the crime.
Each episode revolve around the investigation into the robbery, led by Detective Chief Superintendent Cradock – played by the great Peter Vaughan. With each episode, Cradock peels away a layer of the conspiracy, revealing the complexity of the relationships between the various people involved in the crime.
The final disc contains a feature-length re-edit of the final two episodes (‘The End of the Game’ 97:48) and a gallery of images from the production of the series (7:28).
