Cleveland, 1960. Karchy Jonas (Brad Renfro) is a Hungarian teenager who came to Cleveland with his aging father 7 year ago. Before long, they’re gonna take the test to become American citizen. Yet, Karchy has other stuff on his mind. You see, like many young dudes, he has a hard time fitting in, especially since he studies at a Catholic prep school. He constantly gets bullied around and teachers don’t give him a break. He’s caught in a dead-end part job, and the only girl he cares about, Diney (Calista Flockhart), seems distant and uninterested. So when Billy Magic (Kevin Bacon), a flashy hot shot DJ, arrives in town, Karchy finds a goal in life. Through different circumstances, he even becomes Billy’s assistant and confident. Hence, he now has access to hot cars, women, money and rock & roll. But as it’s often the case in America, things aren’t always as they seem...
